Cricket for a Cause – Metadata initiates its CSR Activity in association with Smartlife Foundation


Dubai, 18 December 2015: Metadata Technologies (Metadata) chose to play cricket for a cause by participating in the Sprite Smart Cup 2015 Cricket Tournament, an event organized by Smartlife Foundation, a Dubai-based organisation with over 24 Teams from the corporate sector as well as blue-collar workers from different local companies.

Metadata has taken up this initiative as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility. The one-day charity sports event “Sprite Smart Cup 2015” took place at Sprite Insportz, Al Quoz in Dubai on Friday, December 18, 2015.

Smartlife Foundation, an organization registered under the Community Development Authority (CDA) is focused to serve betterment of the blue collar society. The Dubai based non-profit, non-government organisation hosted this event with the aim of generating funds to support a whole year’s education for children of the blue-collar workers. Another objective of the Smart Cup cricket tournament is to nurture valuable bonding time with blue and white-collar employees through the spirit of sports.

During the day-long sports event, 20 teams comprising 80 corporate employees and 100 blue-collar workers played to support this initiative. Officials from various consulates in Dubai attended the event and various Radio Stations supported the cause by providing live commentary of the matches.

The funds raised are contributed to Project Sapna, the CSR drive by Smartlife Foundation where it focuses on the education of children of blue-collared employees. It aims to fulfill a Sapna (dream) of a blue-collar employee by funding and mentoring their children in their home countries.
